Hand-embroidered silk blouse, c.1915
If you are a lover of fine hand embroidery, you will enjoy needle art that can be worn. The cream colored silk crepe de chine blouse is elaborately decorated on the cuffs and front panel with open work embroidery rendered in silk floss.
The blouse closes on the side front with concealed snaps. On the side that opens, the collar snaps in place.
The condition is almost excellent. There are faint stitching lines along the back waist where the fullness was let out. They are not visible when the blouse is worn.
It measures: 38" bust, waist and hip, 14 1/2" from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, 23" sleeve length (including the cuff), 7 1/2" wrist circumference, and 22" from shoulder to hem. The sleeves were shortened by raising the cuff 1/2". The work, done by hand with fine thread, can easily be let out if you need the extra length.
