Ribbon work evening jacket, 1950s
Evening jackets, fabricated from coiled ribbon, were the height of chic in the 1950s. Vintage collectors today recognize that the beautiful fabric can be recycled into the modern wardrobe. Remove the fur collar and the jacket will be very au courant.
The swirled floral design is fashioned from beige silk ribbon. The jacket is lined with matching silk crepe. The mink collar is loosely tacked on by hand. The jacket has three-quarter length sleeves and closes at the neckline with a concealed hook.
The condition is almost excellent. The jacket just shows gentle wear.
It measures: 40" circumference, 17" sleeve length, and 21" from the shoulder to the hem.
