Silk shantung dress, jacket & scarf, c.1970
This ladylike ensemble is fashioned from navy silk shantung. The pictures were lightened to show the detail, which makes the color appear royal blue.
The short sleeve dress is completely interlined. It has a pocket set into the side front seams and closes in back with a metal zipper. The double-breasted jacket is lined with geometric printed silk twill and closes in front with goldtone buttons.
The fuchsia and lime green colors in the print are back in style! The jewel neckline of the dress can be covered with a detachable silk scarf that matches the lining. The three-quarter length sleeves are perfect for showing off your collection of costume jewelry bracelets! The outfit is very well made and was obviously expensive when new.
Reproductions of vintage styles from the 60s and 70s are everywhere today at much higher prices—this original is better made and more affordable than this year's copies.
The condition is excellent. You will probably want to clean this outfit to freshen it after years of storage.
The dress measures: 38" bust, 32" waist, 40" hip, and 39" from the shoulder to the hem.
The jacket measures: 38" bust and waist, 19" sleeve length, and 19" from the shoulder to the hem.
