Irish crochet lace bag, early 20th century
This charming hand crocheted bag belonged to Bertha Valentine of New York. Two of her dresses are currently for sale in the Victorian section.
The exterior of the bag is hand crocheted with ivory silk floss. It is lined with matching cotton. The color, which is currently beige, would lighten considerably with washing. The bag closes with drawstring ties.
The condition is almost excellent. The bag, which has darkened with age, just needs a good soak. There are no structural problems.
It measures 12" wide by 16" long.
