Hanae Mori lace shell, 1970s-80s
The Japanese designer Hanae Mori created a sensation in the fashion world when she opened boutiques in Paris and presented elegant designs that showcased her original textile designs. Her exquisitely feminine style can be seen in all her work, whether an original textile design or a time honored classic like lace.
I never tire of the allure of black lace, associated with romance and mystery. In the sophisticated little shell, the designer plays on the depth of black by adding another layer of black below the lace surface. The design is simple and understated, yet suggestive of the unfathomable mystery of black.
The shell is fashioned from black cotton guipure lace and is lined with black rayon. The sides are vented for comfortable fit over the hips. The shell closes in back with a nylon coil zipper.
The condition is excellent. It is clean and ready to wear.
The size is marked 42. It measures: 38" bust and waist, 40" hip and 24" from shoulder to hem.
