Beaded silk chiffon tunic, 1920s
This piece is definitely worth restoring. If you have the patience to do the work, you will end up with the kind of beaded tunic that I sell for $1000-$1100.
Fashioned from ivory silk chiffon and embellished with silver-lined clear crystal beads, the tunic is completely open on the sides. You can add beaded side closures if desired. Note the similarity of cut in the Gallenga tabard.
Back the holes by creating a wider hem facing. Then make the design more elaborate with extra beads that cover the edges of the holes, using period antique beads. Such handwork is more time consuming than difficult. The result will be worth it.
The condition is very good. As you can see in the pictures below, the back of the tunic has holes at the hem border.
The front and back panels are 14 1/2" wide and 50" long from shoulder to hem.
