Adolfo wool knit suit, 1970s
The smart burgundy wool knit suit is an exemplar of the Adolfo look. Unlined and unstructured, the suit is as comfortable to wear as a sweater. His ladylike knit suits were a mainstay of First Lady Nancy Reagan's wardrobe.
The chic cardigan-style jacket has two V-shaped pockets and is open in the front. The straight skirt has a front kick-pleat and an elasticized waist.
Both pieces are decorated with threaded ribbons and bows. The woolen texture of the glowing roseate nap makes this the perfect suit for the coldest winter day.
The condition is excellent. The suit has been gently worn.
The jacket measures: 38" bust, 34" waist, 15 1/2" from sleeve cap to sleeve cap, 23" sleeve length, and 23" from shoulder to hem.
The skirt measures: 30" waist, 40" hip, and 29" length.
