Beaded chiffon flapper dress, 1920s
This dress still has life in it and is worth restoring. It must have had underarm damage because, as you can see in the pictures, someone added replacement chiffon fabric—a good idea, but the work needs to be finished.
The underarm replacements are basted in with white thread, which show through the sheer fabric. An easy/medium project: replace the basting with small stitches in dark thread. On the shoulders are a few holes that can be backed with chiffon and disguised with additional beads.
I love the bold scale and cheerful colors of the beaded flowers. If you finish the restoration work, you will have a beauty at a bargain price. I do the work on the main category pieces but do not have the time for Treasure Hunt repairs.
The condition is very good.
Generous size. It measures: 44" bust and waist, 56" hip and 52" from the shoulder to the hem.
