Chloé wool crepe halter dress & coat, c.1985
The top-line ready-to-wear house Chloé has been described as luxurious, romantic, and quintessentially French. This marvelous ensemble is a fine example of the Chloé style. I love the pairing of a classically tailored coat with a sexy, flirty, bias-cut halter dress: refined ladylike styling with a super sexy dress covers all the bases!
The ensemble is fashioned from lightweight black wool crepe. The sexy, wrap-around bias-cut dress is unlined, allowing it to mold to the figure. The surplice-style dress has long ties that wrap around and tie in back. The coat, lined with black China silk, features set-in front pockets. The coat closes in front with portrait buttons.
The air conditioner should be on before you enter the room with the coat unbuttoned—you will definitely raise the temperature a couple of degrees in this bombshell of a dress. Men cannot help themselves: they are drawn to a woman who intimates the seductive excitement of the evening. This is an ensemble for such a woman.
The coat was originally owned by a New York lady who appreciated cutting-edge design. The labels in the coat and dress read "Made in France/Chloé."
Gaby Aghion started Chloé in 1952 with a new concept: luxury prêt-à-porter. Her wearable, stylish daywear gave the line currency with chic young women. The Bohemian, feminine details made it a favorite with Grace Kelly, Brigitte Bardot, and Jackie O. Chloé launched the careers of many young designers (Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney).
The condition is excellent. Buy it and wear it!
The size is marked 40. The wrap-around dress is adjustable. The coat measures: 40" bust, 36" waist, 16 1/2" from sleeve cap to sleeve cap, 21" sleeve length, and 34" from shoulder to hem.
