Lace and tulle blouse, c.1900
The blouse is a great buy if you want the period look without the expense of handmade lace. There is a surprise bonus for the savvy buyer: a repair to increase the circumference of the lace cuffs was done with inserts of handmade filet lace—see bottom picture.
The blouse is made from beige dotted tulle with matching machine lace neckline and cuffs. It closes in back with hooks. The blouse is longer and fuller in front.
The condition is excellent. There are a few holes near the unpicked waist. They will not show when the blouse is tucked in.
It measures: 42" circumference, 16" from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, 14 1/2" collar circumference, 24" sleeve length (including the 8" long cuff), and 19 1/2" center-back length.
