1920s velvet shawl

#6569          $975

Deco printed velvet shawl, 1920s

The bold graphic design and rich color in this superb Deco shawl create a lasting impression. If you wear it as a fashion accessory, every eye will be on you when you make your entrance. You can also drape it over a couch or across a bed to add to a stylish décor.

The shawl is fashioned from sensual peach silk velvet printed with large scale, stylized black chrysanthemums. Rectangular in shape, the shawl is edged all around with a 25"-wide border of hand-knotted black silk fringe.

This is the quintessential Deco design. Although the term Art Deco was coined only in 1968, it refers to an aesthetic in vogue between 1909 and 1939, adopted in the decorative arts, textiles, and fashion. Deco displayed stylized motifs and shapes borrowed from national traditions, folk art ,and ancient cultures and was strongly influenced by the avant-garde.

The condition is excellent and wearable.

It measures: 85" wide by 107" long, including the fringe.
