Robert Martin satin/lace party dress, 1950s
I love a dress with back interest. Fashion must not forget that a departure is almost as important as an entrance. The beautiful clothing you wear should make a gratifying, lasting impression when you enter a room. Then your dress and appearance will ensure that you are missed when you gone.
Your exit will be noticed in this lovely dress of emerald green satin and black Chantilly lace. The style, ladylike in front and visually arresting in back, is to die for. The ultra-feminine lace rose in the center of the bodice (3rd picture down), surrounded by attentive buds, has the delicacy and charm of old Sèvres porcelain.
This high quality dress is beautifully constructed and finished. It is completely interlined for support and closes in back with a metal zipper. The waistline seam is accentuated with self-covered corded piping.
The label is located under a skirt seam, near the hem—see the bottom picture.
The condition is almost excellent. The underarms are light stained on the inside only. This does not show when you wear the dress.
It measures: 38" bust, 28" waist, 42" hip, 15 3/4" from the shoulder to the waist, and 46" from the shoulder to the hem.
