Dotted swiss cotton day dress, 1920s
Day dresses from the early 20th century are becoming very difficult to find. While the treasured special occasion dress was lovingly stored away, the day dress was usually worn until it died.
This one is fashioned from cheerful, pink dotted swiss cotton. The straight style has a drop waist, long sleeves, and a pleated skirt. I love the large mother-of-pearl buttons used for decoration. The dress slips over the head.
The condition is almost excellent. On the back is a small mend, which is barely visible.
It measures: 40" bust, 36" drop waist, 46" skirt, 15" from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, 24" sleeve length, 7 1/2" cuff circumference, 20" to the top of the hip band, and 44" from the shoulder to the hem.
