Poiret-style cocoon coat, early 20th century
The style of this altered evening coat is to die for. It deserves to be recycled. The last owner removed the lining and interlining, changing the design from a coat to a peignoir-style garment.
The shape is still exceptional. It can be worn as a lightweight cover up in a warm climate or as a peignoir at home. The color is dark brown/black. The pictures, which were lightened to show the detail, make it appear more brown.
The coat is fashioned from lightweight satin. The collar, cuffs and hem are gathered with trapunto cording. It closes at the neckline with a hook and at the hem with three self covered buttons.
The condition is excellent though altered. It is clean and ready to wear.
It measures 60" around and 47" from the shoulder to the hem.
