Werlé silk party dress, c.1960
According to The Museum of Broadcast Communications, "...fashion may be the most memorable feature of The Loretta Young Show. Every episode opened with a swirling entrance that showcased her designer dresses, a move that became her television trademark. Many of the dresses she wore on the show were designed by Dan Werle..."
The public could purchase Werle creations at his Beverly Hills boutique. This party dress features an asymmetrical one-shoulder design. The torso is fashioned from body molding black silk jersey; the skirt is a wonderful pouf of black taffeta.
The torso and skirt are both self lined. The dress is beautifully finished with an inner petersham-style waistband and no raw seams. The dress closes on the side with a hand-stitched nylon zipper.
The condition is excellent. It looks like it was never worn.
It measures: 36" bust, 28" waist, 38" hip, and 45" from the shoulder to the hem.
