Saint Laurent ruched jersey top, 1960s-70s

During his lifetime, Yves Saint Laurent (video) bestrode the world of haute couture like a mighty Colossus. He is now considered the last of the great couturiers. He was a shy man who spoke boldly through the language of design. He poured the same intense creativity into a ready-to-wear line that rivaled his couture work.

What a sexy and stylish top, made for the Saint Laurent/Rive Gauche prêt-à-porter line! Fashioned from black silk jersey and totally ruched, it hugs the body like a second skin and closes on the side with a long metal zipper. The sleeves close at the wrists with short zippers. The neckline and sleeve tops are elasticized to stay in place.

The condition is almost excellent. On the back are several very tiny mends that get lost in the pleats and do not spoil the appearance of this fabulous top.

The size is marked 38. The stretchy fabric measures approximately 36" bust, 30" waist and 38" hip, and 26" from shoulder to hem.
