1950s evening ensemble

#7014         $750

Beaded satin cocktail ensemble, 1960s

Party dresses from the 1950s-1960s are perennial favorites for their feminine elegance and figure flattering styles. This splendid evening ensemble, which belonged to a new York socialite, is fashioned from glowing, melon colored satin.

It features a beaded cocktail sheath under a full coat with three-quarter length sleeves. The sleeves are perfect for showing off long gloves and vintage costume bracelets.

The neckline of the dress is embellished with a yoke of iridescent sequins, gold-lined crystal beads, and large faceted clear crystals (4th picture down). The sparkling embellishment against the glowing satin creates such brilliance that even the shadows will take notice as the wearer passes by.

The dress is interlined and closes in back with a coil zipper. The waistline is accented with a self-covered belt. The coat has the advantage of being lined with fleece-backed satin for warmth. The coat can be closed at the neckline with self-covered buttons.

The condition is almost excellent. Near the hem of the dress in back is a small mend. The coat also shows some wear along the hem fold. These minor flaws do not spoil the appearance.

The dress measures: 36" bust, 27" waist, 38" hip, 15" from shoulder to waist, and 38" from shoulder to hem.
The coat measures: 40" bust, 16" from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, and 40" from shoulder to hem.
