Bronze lamé wide-brim hat, c.1922
It is a rare treat to find a fabulous hat that has not been "improved" with added decoration. This beauty is fashioned from bronze lamé with a brim of bronzed metallic lace. The hat is decorated with a gold metallic ribbon rosette and band.
The hat is beautifully crafted with overlapping bias pleats, rows of corded bias binding, and a peach silk lining. The high quality of materials and construction indicate that the hat was expensive when it was new.
I love the patina! The metallic fibers have beautifully aged, lending an old-money look to the design.
The condition is excellent and all original. It looks like it was never worn.
It measures: 22" around the inside of the crown, 5" high and 14" across the brim.
