Floral cotton day dress, 1920s
Everyday clothes in good condition are difficult to find. They were usually worn until they were discarded. This cheerful dress is made from lightweight cotton that has softened with repeated washings. The small lavender and yellow floral print is delightful.
This is the sort of dress worn by Barbara Stanwyck in Stella Dallas, the tearjerker hit movie of of mother love, based on the 1920 novel by Olive Higgens Prouty.
The dress slips over the head with no closures.
The condition is excellent. The dress has been gently worn and softened from washing.
It measures: 40" bust and waist, 48" hip, 16" from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, and 49" from shoulder to hem.
