Embroidered satin pajamas, late 1940s
Decorative clothing, produced for the Western market, was a popular souvenir from postwar Japan. These charming pajamas might have been a gift for a girl friend back home.
They are fashioned from black crepe back satin and trimmed with gold satin. Both pieces are hand embroidered. I love the little embroidered pockets on the pants. The pants are elasticized in back.
The top has a small label that reads "Made in Japan."
The condition is excellent. They look like they were never worn.
The top measures: 44" circumference and 24" from the shoulder to the hem.
The pants measure: 29" waist unstretched, 44" hip, and 39" from the waist to the hem.
