Hand-knitted reticule, mid 19th century
The unlined reticule is hand knitted with a diagonal rib pattern that forms chevrons where the ribs reverse direction. (The reticule reminds me of a hot air balloon.)
The lacy top closes with knit drawstring ties. Padded knit bobbles decorate the base and ties.
The condition is almost excellent. The color is slightly uneven from fading, a part of the antique charm.
It measures 7 1/2" wide at the top (when open) by 7" tall, excluding the ball drops.
