Princess lace collar, early 20th century

Princess lace is a type of tape lace. The delicate tapes are available in rounded and scalloped shapes which resemble handmade Brussels lace—see the detail pictures below of the leaves. The tapes in this lovely lace collar are hand assembled with an interesting variety of texture.

This an excellent choice for someone who wants the look of handmade Brussels lace without the high cost. The collar is constructed with front and back pieces that are joined with shoulder seams—see the bottom picture.

The condition is excellent. The collar has darkened with age—a special find for those who treasure the old patina. If you do not appreciate this quality, you can wash the collar to make it lighter.

The collar is 6" wide and 8 1/2" long at the center-front. The inner neckline circumference is 24".
