Paisley printed silk gauze shawl, mid 19th century

This exquisite shawl is an excellent example of the elaborate printed paisley designs popular in the 19th century. The gossamer silk ribbon weave allows the over sized shawl to drape gracefully. The ends are finished with green hand-knotted silk cord.

The condition is very good to excellent. I found several inconspicuous mends that do not spoil the appearance and a few small breaks for you to mend. They are reflected in the price. If I had time to do the mending, I would sell the shawl for at least $900.

It measures 69" wide by 139" long.
