Metallic embroidered taffeta evening dress, 1930s
This chic beauty was made from black taffeta embroidered with bronze metallic crescents. I love the draped, open-sleeve detail, plunging neckline, and large back bow. The sexy bias cut molds to the body through the torso and flares below the knee—perfect for dancing. It closes on the side with snaps and hooks. The self belt has a rhinestone clasp.
What a great buy! It is sexy, stylish, and in top condition except for two tiny holes probably made by a brooch. If the holes were further down on the skirt, this would hardly be a flaw. Unfortunately they are obvious on the bodice front. If you add a brooch of your own, you will have a stunning evening dress at 1/3 the usual cost. Dresses of this quality sell for $1000-$1400 in my 1920s-1930s section.
The condition is almost excellent. On the bodice front are two pinprick size holes, probably from a brooch. I exaggerated them slightly in the pictures so you could see them.
It measures: 36" bust, 30" waist, 38" hip, and 58" from shoulder to hem.
