Embroidered cotton petticoat, c.1900
Embellished cotton petticoats from the late Victorian period make wonderful summer skirts. The high-quality workmanship deserves to be seen.
This one is decorated with numerous rows of tucks and a border design of hand-embroidered eyelets and scrolling soutache. The hem is finished with a perky ruffle.
The condition is almost excellent. The only problem is fraying along the hem fold, which is under the ruffle. You can shorten the hem slightly or leave it as is—an easy project.
It measures: 26" waist and 37" long.
