Pink silk crepe gown, c.1905
This delightful gown from the end of the Victorian period is a celebration of unabashed femininity. The winsome roseate pink and the fastidious decoration will melt the heart of any man!
The gown is fashioned from pink silk crepe. The skirt and lower sleeves are decorated with rows of pin tucks. Matching pink silk chiffon is used for the upper sleeves and sleeve bows. The neckline, sleeves, and lower skirt are decorated with ivory lace appliqués.
The skirt hem ruffle was originally pleated to match the knife pleated bodice. If you have the time and patience, you can press the pleats back in place by following the barely visible lines.
The skirt is cut longer and fuller in back. The bodice and skirt are both lined with pink taffeta. The seams of the boned bodice are carefully finished with ivory seam binding. The bodice closes in back with hooks. The label on the petersham reads "L'Esperance Robes."
The condition is almost excellent. There are a few splits in the sleeve lining. It is not shattering.
It measures: 36" bust, 23" bodice waist (the petersham is 22"), 24" skirt waist, 15" from the shoulder to the bodice waist, and 42" skirt front length.
