#6723 $275
Rectangular silk print shawl, early 20th century
I wish I had time to repair this beauty, because the print is fabulous. The shawl is fashioned from lightweight silk shantung and is bordered on three sides with hand-knotted silk fringe.
The repair is not difficult but does require patience to do fine hand work. See the bottom picture of one corner, showing the small tear (approximately 1 3/4") that needs mending. Also, several sections of the fringe need reworking.
The condition is very good. This one is definitely worth saving. In excellent condition, it would sell for $750-$950. See examples in my Shawls/Textiles section.
It measures 83" by 30", excluding the fringe.
