Cotton print wrapper, late 19th century

Everyday clothing that has survived in good condition is often the most difficult to find. Such clothing was usually worn until it died. This charming cotton print wrapper is an excellent example of late 19th clothing.

The wrapper is fashioned from indigo printed cotton and is trimmed with bands of beige and brown braided trim. The loose-fitting wrapper style features an ivory cotton underbodice that closes in front with buttons.

The condition is excellent.

It measures: 42" bust, 16 1/2" from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, 23" sleeve length including the cuff, and 54" from the shoulder to the hem.
