Brussels lace monogrammed hankie, 19th century
Fine antique hankies with abundant handwork make thoughtful, one-of-a-kind gifts. This could be the "something old" on a bride's special day. The border features a lovely pattern of stylized leaves and flowers. The sheer cotton batiste center of the hankie is hand embroidered "J. Riddell." The color is cream.
The condition is almost excellent. I found several small breaks in the mesh ground. They do not spoil the beauty of this exceptional piece.
The hankie is 17" square.
