Silk and lace boudoir jacket, c.1905
Fine lingerie from the Belle Époque is coveted by collectors who have discovered that pretty lovely pieces are too pretty to hide. This period of extravagance in dress is famous for its extravagantly romantic boudoir creations.
Our lovely boudoir jacket is fashioned from heavenly pink silk crepe. The jacket is totally lined with matching pink silk crepe (see bottom picture) and is embellished with wide bands of beige floral lace. I love the scalloped lace borders.
The jacket can be worn over a simple slip evening gown or as an exotic top with pants. This jacket is as stylish when seen in profile or from the rear, as the detail pictures demonstrate.
It is styled with a loose front and shaped back. The amount of shaping in the back can be adjusted with inside ties—see the bottom picture. This beautiful jacket closes in front with hooks.
The condition is excellent.
The size is adjustable due to the full front and inside ties. It measures approximately: 38" to 40" bust, 38" waist untied, 17" from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, 19" sleeve length, and 22" from the shoulder to the hem.
