Knitted silk lace mitts, 19th century
The gossamer mitts are fashioned from delicate black silk thread. The lacy pattern is very pretty when it is opened up on the hand. The mitts stretch to fit a variety of sizes.
The mitten style, which does not have divided fingers, was popular from the 1830s to 1900.
The condition is excellent.
