Edwardian combing jacket

#2867          $850

Lace trimmed combing jacket, c.1910

Frilly combing jackets, always popular with serious collectors, have moved from the Edwardian boudoir into contemporary fashion. The Edwardian period was celebrated for its extravagantly romantic boudoir creations. Wear this one with black skinny leg pants for an edgy fashion statement.

I love the grand scale of the design. Fashioned from crisp white cotton broadcloth, the jacket is abundantly embellished with bands of lace and ruffles. (Think of Christian's winning design for The Art of Fashion episode on the latest Project Runway.) The jacket closes in front with mother-of-pearl buttons hidden under the front ruffle.

The condition is almost excellent. I found two tiny mends (about 1/4"). The jacket is clean and ready to wear.

It measures: 48" bust and waist, 52" hip, 17" sleeve length, 17" from shoulder seam to shoulder seam, and 30" from the shoulder to the hem.
