#1646 $1,400
Hand-embroidered beige silk coat, c.1910
The coat is fashioned from natural silk faille hand embroidered in silk floss with robust roses and small eyelet flowers. The romantic embellishment works perfectly with the long slender style gracefully shaped through the upper body and flared below the waist.
The center-back has a deep box pleat. The wide, bias-cut cape sleeves disguise the sleeveless armholes underneath. The unlined coat is beautifully finished inside with bound seams and closes in front with concealed hooks.
You and your friends will ever appreciate the magnificent floral embroidery (3rd picture down) which tells us the wearer belongs to the aristocracy of style, a special cadre of fashion initiates whose smart attire always attracts admiring glances.
The condition is almost excellent. In front is a pale stain that blends in with the embroidery and is barely noticeable. For that reason, I did not clean the coat.
It measures: 42" bust and waist, 47" hip, and 56 1/2" from shoulder to hem.
