Hand-embroidered christening dress, late Victorian
This lovely under-stated dress is perfect for if you want an infant's dress without the high cost of a dress with lavish needlework. This one is sturdy and can be worn without the worry of destroying a museum treasure.
The bodice and ruffles have been lovingly hand embroidered with flowers, eyelets, and openwork. The bodice features rows of pin tucks. The dress closes in back with two concealed mother-of-pearl buttons. The dress is fashioned from cotton broadcloth.
The condition is almost excellent. It needs only to be washed to freshen it from many years in storage.
It measures 22" chest, and 34" from the shoulder to the hem.
