Mixed lace blouson-style blouse, c.1905

Many devotees of antique clothing have been frustrated by the small sizes that don't fit a modern woman. Rather than resort to uncomfortable corsets, they have altered pieces to accommodate a modern lifestyle. This charming blouse is one of those altered pieces.

The tight neckline was opened and lowered in back. A lace panel was inserted at the center-back to increase the size. The resulting style is loose and comfortable to wear. Before the work was done on this one, it was probably similar to blouse #2420

The blouse is fashioned from a mixture of ivory cotton laces and embroidered net. I love the variety of textures. The bottom band is ivory silk. the blouse slips on without closures.

The condition is almost excellent. Other being altered in design, the blouse is in excellent, wearable condition.

It measures: 42" bust, 38" lower band, and 19" from shoulder to front waist.
